Christmas is right around the corner and we as the church are in advent season. When you hear the word advent many of us will think of the chocolate advent calendars we had as kids. Opening a door for each day, getting to eat the chocolate, and counting down the days to Christmas. In fact my 2 daughters just began their own chocolate advent calendars this morning.

Church advent consists of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. It's a time of expectant waiting for the coming of the Messiah, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Just as he was born into this world as a child, which we celebrate on Christmas, our Saviour has promised to return. It symbolizes the churches present situation in the "last days" as God's people wait for the return of Jesus Christ in all his glory and to fully usher his eternal everlasting kingdom. In other words "the church, during Advent, looks back upon Christ’s coming in celebration while at the same time looking forward in eager anticipation to the coming of Christ’s kingdom when he returns for his people."

What an exciting time it is. So take time this month to observe advent, feel free to join us Sunday mornings. May the peace and joy of Jesus Christ be with you as we celebrate our King this Christmas season.
