Our History

The name “19Twenty” finds its significance in both our physical location, “1920” Argyle Drive, as well as John’s Gospel. John 19:20 tells of the sign posted on the cross declaring Jesus as the King in that era’s international languages (Greek, Hebrew and Latin) for everyone to see. At 19Twenty Church we welcome everyone from every nation to share in the new life that Jesus the Messiah has for us.

We are an inter-cultural English-speaking congregation with people from all throughout Metro Vancouver. Yet we are an integral part of Finnish Bethel Church (in fellowship with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, PAOC). Our rich history started in 1946, when Finnish Bethel Church began to serve the Vancouver Finnish speaking community, which among other things, is still an essential part of its work today.
